Keep it sunny, keep it cool...
HOW IT ALL STARTED
Josephine always loved to draw clothes on figurinas and decided to study fashion journalism in 2015. Playing around with shapes, fonts, colours and logos is one of her favourite things and so she started brainstorming about her first very own brand in September 2023.
A “side hustle”, where she can let her ideas freely flow without being dependent of anyone else. She wanted to create something that makes you feel cool, happy and comfy while wearing.
BORN IN BALI
In November 2023 she started producing the first samples in Bali. Although she was already happy with the first samples, as a perfectionist she took her time and did more rounds of samples with various manufacturers. Then, in March things became concrete. Together with Abdil, she fine tuned things and visited various fabric stores. Chapter One of BAYSIDE BOUND was now born. Abdil, who lives in Denpasar, is the tailor of Bayside Bound's first collections. So without Abdil BAYSIDE BOUND wouldn’t exist, neither without Josi’s family and friends who always helped her with any favour and gave her honest opinions. Bali has played a big role in Josephine’s life since 2017. Developing a brand that is made in Bali keeps the connection with the island flowing.
MOVING ON
Things got bigger, and Josephine permanently moved back to Europe, so having a huge distance between the production and the warehouse became a big difficulty among other issues. Some decisions aren't easy and take time but in order to grow her heart project BAYSIDE BOUND she needed to take action.
So she decided to try moving her production to Portugal. On her trip to Porto in November 2025 she visited over 15 manufacturers, had multiple meeting and learned a lot new details about fabric and patterns. Then she decided for a production with that she now works closely on the development of your favorite pieces. From now on (chapter five) BAYSIDE BOUND is EU made, in Portugal with love.
SUN TO WEAR
Josephine takes her inspiration from places allover the world. “As a traveler you have your favourite pieces that hit the suit case every single time you go on a trip. I want Bayside Bound’s pieces to be just like that.” They are meant to be with you in your sunny moments that become sunny memories.
